SUMMARY

Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Rooms Division; Front Office, Guest Services, PBX, and Concierge Departments in a professional manner.  Maintain the integrity of the position by adhering to all policies and procedures of Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the daily operation of all Rooms Division operational areas
  • Responsible for the recruitment, training, and development of all managerial and supervisory staff
  • Responsible for screening all Rooms Division potential employees prior to initiating the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
  • Monitors weekly, all departmental schedules, and compares to forecast and budget
  • Review time sheets from the GTRS Payroll Department
  • Maintains control of all departmental expenses (i.e. Payroll, supplies, etc)
  • Ensures and maintains effective positive relations with all resort departments
  • Assist the Director of Hotel Operations with the annual budget, and make recommendations for capital and program improvements
  • Ensure that all staff adheres to the policies and procedures of Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
  • Coordinates with Engineering to ensure that the facility is clean and in working order
  • Coordinates and facilitates a monthly staff meeting, designed to promote teamwork and communicate departmental goals and objectives
  • Required to attend weekly Room Division and Resume meetings
  • Coordinates and communicates to all departments any and all activities, operational issues and company policies.
  • Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the resort
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Business/Hospitality Management Degree or a minimum of five years supervisory front desk hotel experience

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (If applicable)

Directly supervises all employees within the Rooms Division. Carries out all managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining; development and adhering to budgets and forecasts; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
