About the Role

The Designer II role will focus on supporting production operations at our Manufacturing Center of Excellence at our St. Louis, Missouri Advanced Technology Center (ATC). This role translates customer drawings and requirements into solid models, design documents, bills-of-material, and workcenter routings to deliver information to our manufacturing teams which allows Operations to construct heater and sensor products that meet customer expectations.  The Designer is responsible for administrating the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process for launching new products and maintaining accurate information on existing ones.   The Designer works in collaboration with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain and other functional teams that support Operations, and may have responsibilities to participate in the product realization process by building prototypes, fabricating tools, and conducting experiments.  The Designer works collaboratively with colleagues on the St. Louis Themal Solutions Integration Team (TSIT) and reports to the St. Louis TSIT leader.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret customer drawings and requirements, translating these into product constructions and capabilities
• Create drawings and other documentation to support the product and process needs of Operations
• Prepare CAD drawings for new parts, assemblies
• Utilize design tools to optimize product designs based on defined standards and trade-off curves
• Support the prototyping process
• Maintain accurate design information on existing products via the ECO process
• Provide technical support to Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and other functional areas supporting Operations
• Work with a team to develop innovative solutions to customer requirements
• Ensure projects are completely in a timely manner

Required Qualifications

• Two-year Associates degree in design, drafting, engineering technology or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial setting, preferably in a design, drafting or technology-related role
• Experience and demonstrated proficiency with 3D solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience reading engineering drawings
• Mechanical background and aptitude

• Familiarization with resistive heating and basic sensor products preferred
• A detail-oriented mindset ensures alignment with this role

• Ability to solve routine, simple problems
• Ability to self-manage activities and seek feedback and guidance from others when needed
