SUMMARY: Energetics is seeking a qualified candidate for a Technical Project Coordinator position. The preferred applicant will have significant project management experience and a technical background in the transportation field. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the market transformation of innovative technologies by successfully executing the assigned projects. The project work will be in the following areas:
 

(1)vehicle transportation electrification,

(2)alternative fuel vehicle technologies,

(3)connected and automated vehicles, and/or

(4)new mobility solutions.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, policy or planning discipline. An advanced degree in the aforementioned disciplines is a plus. Proven leadership skills and stakeholder engagement experience is strongly desired as well as some experience with proposal development. Openings for this position are available in San Diego, CA, Clinton, NY, and Columbia, MD or remote with occasional travel to project meetings, project sites and conferences. An occasional trip to Energetics’ headquarters in Columbia, MD can also be expected for those based in other offices.
 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Project Management

  • Project managing skills to start and finish projects successfully. Analyze, plan, and develop requirements in reference to scheduled projects.
  • Assign and oversee the daily tasks of technical personnel while ensuring all subordinates are actively working toward established milestones. Demonstrated ability to manage more than one project at a time. Manage projects to ensure all scoped task activities are completed on-time and within budget. Maintain project time frames, budget estimates and status reports. Carefully track all costs through Cognos-generated reports using Costpoint data.
  • Determineanddefinecleardeliverables,roles,andresponsibilitiesforstaffmembersrequiredforspecific projects or initiatives. Excellent time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others.


Technical Contributions

  • Knowledge of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty alternative fuel vehicles, including emissions and energy considerations.
  • Alternative fuel and advanced technology planning for government and private fleets.
  • Charging infrastructure recommendations for light-, medium-, and heavy-duty electric vehicles.
  • Third party transportation technology evaluation including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Understanding of the electricity system and utility operations.


Business Development

  • Engage with local transportation stakeholders and fleets on potential project opportunities.
  • Follow energy and air quality agencies and utilities’ transportation funding opportunities.
  • Contribute to concept and project team development to pursue federal, state, and local grants.

Communication

  • Hold regular internal technical team meetings to determine progress and address any challenges.
  • Regularly communicate with Program Director and/or Vice President on the status of projects.
  • Developgoodrelationshipswithprojectteampartnersandclientsthroughactivecommunicationofproject progress through monthly update reports and regular check-in meetings.

  • Use time management strategies and organizational skills and to keep projects on track.
  • Exhibit strong personal accountability to make decisions and supervise project team activities.
  • Apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills based on managerial experience.
  • Mentor project staff where appropriate.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, policy or planning discipline.
  • Three (3) years’ managing technical projects with an understanding of mobile transportation and energy technologies.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment that encourages teamwork.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Superior Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel,Teams).
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, environmental policy, or planning discipline
  • Data analysis and visual storying telling skills.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)certification.
  • Existing network clean transportation stakeholders.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working as a consultant/project manager in the transportation sector.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience.
  • Experience securing and managing federal or state grants.
