SUMMARY:  The Ignition Exciter Technician will perform maintenance and alteration tasks on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:   

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Complete the disassembly of Ignition Exciter housings with the use of an oxygen/acetylene torch.
  • Complete the assembly of the Ignition Exciter Housings with solder by use of an oxygen/acetylene torch.
  • Utilize specialty equipment to assemble Ignition Exciter Housings and Chassis.
  • Perform leak test of Ignition Exciters with use of compressed air.
  • Perform hot water leak test of Ignition Exciter during the assembly process.
  • Ensures up-to-date knowledge of all tools and proper use of equipment within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate component movement with the Senior Ignition Exciter Technician.
  • Document maintenance records of all repair work orders performed.
  • Prepare Ignition Exciter for paint by use of bench grinder.
  • Ensure equipment utilized meets calibration requirements
  • Program equipment as required for various stages of Ignition Exciter Production
  • Interact closely with the Senior Technician to inform them of identified damage during the Detail Inspection process.
  • Disassemble electrical aircraft engine accessories with the use of hand tools and soldering stations.
  • Remove foam potting with precision detail to prevent damage from detail piece parts within the component.
  • Remove identification and safety labels from components with use of a scraper/razor blade.
  • Administer foam potting back into the components after they are assembled.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

 

  • Associate’s degree
  • 3+ years of relevant/technical work experience
  • OR an additional 2 years specific work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.
  • Maintain an orderly and productive work environment.
  • Ability to function in fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality.

     

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 

     

  • 5+ years of oxygen/acetylene torch experience preferred.

 

 

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, SECURITY CLEARANCE, TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS, ETC.): 

 

  • The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
