As a Personal Lines Staff Underwriter, you will help play a critical role for the Underwriting department, using your technical underwriting ability to drive underwriting excellence and support our regional underwriting teams.
How You’ll make an Impact
- Collaborating with regional underwriting teams on complex risks
- Displaying critical thinking and evaluation skills when researching and responding to inquiries and referrals
- Acting as a subject matter expert for a line of business
- Completing training assignments for internal and external personnel
- Analyzing books of business and making recommendations for improvement
- Designing, publishing, and maintaining underwriting guidance in assigned areas
- Managing 3rd party vendor products and relationships as assigned
- Researching, analyzing and developing solutions for assigned projects
- Auditing books of business and individual underwriting files to ensure compliance with company strategy
What You’ll Bring
- Strong analytical capabilities, excel at leveraging quantitative data to drive decisions
- Possess the ability to use proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Preferred:
- Minimum of 5 years of Personal Lines Underwriting experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to synthesize data and effectively present the recommendations
- Self-motivated team player with ability to prioritize work and drive projects
- Strong organizational, management, and problem solving skills
- Flexible approach to new projects, requirements, and workplace demands
- Successful completion of one or more professional designations
