Commercial Lines Pricing Supervisor
Location: Hybrid Work Model – Van Wert, Ohio or Dublin, Ohio
As the CL Pricing Supervisor, you'll be empowered to use your actuarial expertise to lead within the CL Pricing team in supporting Central's growth and financial goals and help shape our future. You can make a meaningful impact within the company.
What will you do?
- Supervise within the commercial lines pricing team:
- Effectively communicate strategy and priorities, set expectations, hold the team accountable, and get results.
- Effectively evaluate performance of your team as a whole as well as each individual on your team, including administering annual performance appraisals.
- Regularly meet with each team member for one-on-one check-ins, and be their first point of contact for any questions or concerns.
- Providing regular updates on projects and team performance to the CL Pricing Manager
- Manage the commercial lines pricing team’s work product by ensuring that the following deliverables are produced in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner:
- Statistical Experience for all commercial lines products. This includes both overall rate level indications and more granular experience studies as needed.
- Rate Change Proposals associated with 25 states worth of commercial lines filings. This includes working with the Commercial Lines Review Committee members to determine the appropriate changes to make with each rate revision, as well as estimating the policyholder impacts associated with those changes.
- Filing Materials for all commercial lines filings, including explanation and justification for all proposed changes and other relevant exhibits needed by the various departments of insurance.
- Responses to questions and objections raised by the various insurance departments in response to our filings.
- Any Ad Hoc Analyses and miscellaneous projects.
- Assist with the management of the commercial lines pricing team’s relationships with other departments by:
- Working appropriately across departments and across offices to accomplish corporate objectives and priorities.
- Training others on commercial lines pricing and rate analysis as needed.
- Assist the Home Office Commercial Lines Underwriting team or any other departments with special projects as needed.
We are seeking someone with the following experience/skills/knowledge:
- Minimum of 5 years of actuarial experience with at least 3 years in commercial lines required.
- ACAS/FCAS designation required.
- Past leadership roles preferred.
- Strong programming skills required. SQL/VBA preferred.
- Strong PC skills, including Excel and Word.
- Strong academic and math background.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively train others.
- Ability to effectively present information and make recommendations in written and oral formats.
- Strong teamwork orientation.
- Proven analytical, quantitative, and leadership abilities.
- Be a self-starter capable of working with minimum supervision.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
