Commercial Lines Pricing Actuary

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare rate level indications and communicate the results to Home Office and Regional personnel with minimal supervision.
• Prepare analyses of statistical experience and communicate the results to Home Office and Regional personnel with minimal supervision
• Prepare actuarial portions of rate filings, including drafting responses to questions raised by the various insurance departments.
• Complete pricing and rate analysis as needed.
• Assist with Rate Committee, including presenting actuarial pricing information, evaluating rate proposals, and advising on the impacts of actions being proposed
• Preparation of communication with Central leadership, as well as external stakeholders and vendors with minimal supervision
• Complete peer review as well as review of Analyst II/Analyst work to ensure quality of work products
• Train others on Actuarial tasks
• Ownership of special projects as requested by the business
• Lead the continuous improvement of Actuarial processes and procedures based on industry trends and best practices in collaboration with the Research and Development Actuarial team
• Ownership of any ad hoc projects as assigned
• Independently write code to manipulate and query data
• Monitor other correspondence of the Actuarial Department to evaluate their impact on work to verify consistency of related actuarial work products.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong skills with programming languages such as Python, SQL, R, SAS and VBA
• ACAS/FCAS Designation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completion of Master’s or Bachelor’s program in Mathematics, Actuarial science, Statistics, Analytics or related field and 5 years of experience in an actuarial position or insurance pricing
• Or 8 years of experience in in an actuarial position or insurance pricing
