Location: Hybrid Work Model in Dublin, OH or Van Wert, OH

 

Technology plays a crucial role in our ability to deliver best-in-class insurance products. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our coverage pricing and Rating Team who will help maintain our core rating engine system and subsystems, and assist modernization efforts to better support our book of business.

 

As a member of our Rating Team you will:

  • Work with a dedicated team to support our in house rating software
  • Adjust software quickly and accurately to keep up with regulatory requirements and changing business needs
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for modernization, and work alongside dedicated .NET professionals to create a robust, fully featured rating suite for our current and future book of business


Responsibilities

  • Participates in all parts of the development lifecycle – from analysis and design, implementation, peer review, to production delivery and support.
  • Work closely with the engineering manager, tech leads, and team to break features into work for engineers to build.
  • Work with engineers to review implementation quality and design choices.
  • Work closely with tech lead and team to identify technical debt and advocate for system improvements that enable faster delivery and reduced cost to serve.
  • Provide coaching to engineers on making design tradeoffs for risk and long-term maintainability.
  • Review and evaluate designs and development activities for compliance with guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
  • Drive team’s system monitoring and change to achieve stability and performance improvements

 

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in COBOL, Mainframe, and DB2 design and development
  • Some experience in design and development of .NET applications, preferably built on a combination of .NET Framework, .NET Web Forms, .NET Core, Web API, C#, and Microsoft SQL
  • Adept at collecting and analyzing input from multiple sources (customers, sales, engineering, marketing, competitor, and management)
  • Experience specifically in deploying, optimizing, and maintaining software preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively with minimal supervision
  • Completion of Master’s program in Computer Science, or completion of Bachelor’s program in Computer Science and 2 years related experience, or 4 years related experience
