The role:

We are currently seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Parent Education Coordinator. As the Parent Education Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of services within the Positive Opportunities for Parenting Success Program (POPS2). Working under the guidance of the Parent Education  Supervisor and Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) Program Manager, you will collaborate with POPS2 staff and families to provide essential support. Your duties will include screening for eligibility, developing case plans, and connecting families to necessary resources and services. By directly engaging with families, you will play a vital role in helping them achieve self-sufficiency and fostering positive outcomes.

 

We would love to hear from someone who:

  • Has a bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Family Studies and three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Is bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural in English and Spanish.
  • Has a valid California Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.

 

As a Parent Education Coordinator you will:

  • Work with the Parent Education Supervisor to ensure the program goals and objectives of POPS2 are met as outlined in the Supporting Father Involvement curriculum.
  • Assist the Father Engagement Specialist in recruiting families for the program. 
  • Develop outreach materials for the program.
  • Complete all required program documentation, including the CAPSLO intake.
  • Attend each group session and makes themselves available for families to discuss any issues/concerns.
  • Actively engage with POPS2 participants, creates a case plan, coordinates a comprehensive and extensive family needs assessment, and works with the family to connect them to their needed resources/services.
  • Assist and transition families to community referrals to support them (helps identify problems and concerns and links families with appropriate referral systems and services).
  • Encourage participation in program and community events.
  • Network with related agencies to link families to POPS2 groups.
  • Conduct regular home visits with families to help open communication and develop a trusting relationship, as needed.
  • Develop Board Reports monthly, updating the Board regarding programmatic services.
  • Ensure data is entered timely into the ClientTrack database.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire. 
  • Must comply with the CAPSLO COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, either being fully vaccinated or sign a COVID-19 vaccination declination form.
  • Based on program, a current TB skin test/Chest X-Ray may be required. 
  • Employment is contingent upon meeting all applicable job requirements and background requirements. A criminal history clearance is required prior to employment. 
  • Upon hire, agency staff will check the Megan’s Law (or the current sexual predator website) to ensure each staff being hired is clear for employment. Agency staff will check the website annually to ensure all program staff are cleared to work.
