Facility Maintenance Tech A

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for but not limited to performing maintenance and mechanical duties for assigned buildings and related facilities, furnishings and equipment.  The required duties may include mechanical repairs, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, roofing and related work.  Incumbents may work independently or under supervision. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs welding repairs on docks and racks
• Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair and modification of industrial equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair overhead doors and loading docks
• Minor carpentry, plumbing and lighting repair
• Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC systems
• Reads and works from building drawings
• Contact vendors, order parts, prepare estimates, and oversee contract work
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease down times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
• Inspect roofs, doors and auxiliary buildings
• Ability to climb ladders and work from lift equipment at heights above 40 feet
• Ability to work quickly and accurately during times of stress and pressure
• Ability to respond to facility emergencies during unscheduled hours

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

• Properly swipe in / out of the KRONOS time keeping system
• Cleans equipment and work areas
• Complete all required paperwork neatly and in a timely fashion
• Work extra hours in addition to normal schedule, when needed
• Adhere to all company and OSHA work and safety rules
• Maintain standards of personal hygiene and proper dress code
• Report to your Supervisor all problems that interfere with a safe and orderly work environment.
• Other duties, as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Job requirements are those that are physical in nature. They include walking, squatting, reaching, twisting, bending, standing and carrying up to 75 pounds, on dry, wet and/or slippery surfaces. Perform work in varying environments with temperatures from -10° F to 90° F.
