About AvidXchange

AvidXchange is a leading provider of accounts payable (“AP”) automation software and payment solutions for middle market businesses and their suppliers. By trade, we are a technology company, but if you ask anyone that works here, they’ll tell you our people are at the core of who we are. We are all entrepreneurs who love to innovate and win with a passion for serving our customers. While we take personal ownership of our everyday work, we recognize that we only win as a team.

Since our founding in 2000 in Charlotte, NC, we’ve created a company of over 1,600 teammates working in one of our 7 offices across the U.S., or remotely. We're building more than a tech company – we're building an experience. We remain committed to a culture where you can fully be 'you’ – connected with others, chasing big goals and making a meaningful impact. If you want to help us grow while realizing your potential and creating stories you'll tell for years, you've come to the right place.

AvidXchange is proud to be Certified™ as a Great Place to Work®. The prestigious recognition is based on anonymous data from our teammates and makes official what our teammates have known for years – that AvidXchange is a Great Place to Work®.

At AvidXchange, enterprise architects drive cross-cutting technical transformation across multiple product and engineering teams by being technical leaders. Each enterprise architect owns a focus area for improvement or innovation across slices of AvidXchange's business domains, customer experiences, and internal operations. They serve as the firm-wide technical champions for proposals that boost how we build software and how customers experience what we deliver and are leaders of our technical transformation work.

An enterprise architect at Avid has six responsibilities:

·Excellent communicator of technical ideas: Understand, define, and communicate critical quality attributes or non-functional requirements. Simplify ideas for different audiences, especially executive stakeholders who will need to evaluate your proposals against other potential business initiatives. Inquisitive listener who can interpret business needs to guide technical development.

·Embody technical excellence: Craft technical designs and architectural solutions to meet business and product needs. Be a role model for the architectural ideas of other technical staff.

·Awareness of the technology landscape: Lead architectural assessments of existing technologies, team deliverables, and industry developments and trends.

·Facilitate good analysis: Bring together stakeholders and investigate challenging problems in our industry that are often being contemplated for the first time. Lead through technical excellence and work with solutions architects to drive results in our product lines and for our business.

·Partnership with product and engineering teams: Provide key technical inputs to product, technology, and platform roadmaps. Partner with your peers in the product organization to help them drive value effectively by elaborating on the tradeoffs of different architectural approaches.

·Peer leader for transformation and technical excellence: Collaborate and lead with other architects in the creation, adoption, and spread of company technology standards and principles for engineering teams.

While there are many different paths to being a successful architect, there are a few elements we like to see in common. If you think you could carry out the responsibilities above, we'd love to have you apply. That said, there are five key qualifications we think are important for success:

·At least ten years of full-time engineering or architectural experience, with a substantive part of that having architecture responsibilities in public cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP. We're looking for people who have been explicitly responsible for architecting modern solutions, who come from a technical background, and who either held an explicit architecture role or were in a technical leadership role where architecture was a core function. It's likely that you either reported to or were in a chief architect role, for example.

·Facilitation and communication skills. You will lead internal and external stakeholders to shared understandings of complex domains and propose technical solutions. You'll need to be able to communicate the merits and tradeoffs of your ideas both to technical and nontechnical executives, as well as engineers and product owners.

·Ability to synthesize and analyze complex problems into technical and business approaches. A key part of your effectiveness will be the ability to identify, distill, and prioritize the essential aspects of the problem and construct technical approaches that consider a variety of constraints. Ultimately, you'll be called upon to answer the question "what technology strategy should we pursue to make us most successful?".

·Demonstrate strategic thinking. Your work and designs are always part of a greater whole. Understanding how you impact other systems and people, and articulating how it aligns with broader goals, are important for your ability to be successful.

Similarly, your work should consider things like the data and security concerns that are endemic to sensitive user information in a financial setting, or the impact on downstream processes and staff who aren't engineering teams. Experience in payments and payment processing is highly desirable.
