Pay Class: Part Time
Shifts/Availability: Monday-Friday/6:45 am-8:45 am
Rate: $16.00-$19.00

Position Purpose: The Upper Main Line YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and caring Assistant Childcare Teacher to join our Early Learning Center. The Assistant Teacher will provide quality childcare while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with classroom activities, mealtimes and implementation of developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
- Maintains a healthy and engaging early childhood learning environment as well as a clean and risk-free room arrangement.
- Gears the activity to needs of the individual child, with concern for their interest, challenges, special talents and pace of learning.
- Interacts with the children to encourage their development and involvement in activities and treats each child with dignity and respect.
- Establishes and maintains positive and productive relationship with families, keeping parents/guardians well informed regarding the child’s growth and development.
- Maintains maintenance records, including, but not limited to: accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance records.
- Attends all staff meetings and recommended training programs.
- Assists in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the development levels of children.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field OR
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field and one-year experience with children OR
- Associates degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience
- Must keep an up-to-date DHS file
- Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs
- Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
