Shifts/Availability: Monday-Friday/Day
Rate: $18.00-$20.00 

About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine is an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all. 

Position Purpose:  The Upper Main Line YMCA is looking for enthusiastic leaders to help make a positive impact on our day campers enrolled in the adaptive Bumblebee Day Camp program this summer. Bumblebee Day Camp is an adaptive camp for children with developmental delays and disabilities.  With smaller ratios, this camp will promote independence, social skill development, communication, play skills, and self-confidence.  This camp group will be included with their day camp peers whenever possible for all scheduled activities.  While all YMCA camps are inclusive, Bumblebee Day Camp provides an integrated opportunity for children that need additional layers of support or accommodation.


Responsibilities: 

 

  • Support children with a variety of developmental disabilities to fully participate in the camp activities
  • Being mindful to the unique and individual needs of each camper
  • Utilizes positive behavior support strategies
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all campers in the group and camp-wide 
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of activities in accordance with the camp schedule  
  • Maintains positive relationships with campers, parents and staff 
  • Organizes and maintains camp equipment, supplies and property 
  • Actively participates in all aspects of the day camp schedule as assigned 
  • Maintains camp records including, but not limited to: accident & incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance documents 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

 Qualifications: 

 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and/or have prior experience in working with children, and children with developmental disabilities  (Paid, volunteer, or internship)
  • Attend all required pre-camp and camp season trainings and meetings as scheduled and/or successful completion of the YMCA CIT program and/or completion of child development classes offered in school 
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs
