waterfront COORDINATOR Job Description

 

Job Title:Waterfront Coordinator                   

Department:Camp Ohiyesa

FLSA Status:Stipend

Status:Seasonal

Reports to:Program Director

 

 

 

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Waterfront Coordinator is responsible for implementing all phases of aquatic programming for campers and staff at Camp during the Summer Camp season. The Waterfront Coordinator is responsible for the safety, cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of the waterfront and boating areas

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Planning, organizing, implementing, directing and evaluating the overall camp swimming and boating program.
  2. To assist in the general upkeep and maintenance of the waterfront and boating area.
  3. Attend all staff meetings.
  4. To assist in the development and implementation of activities, events, and functions of Camp programming.
  5. Attend all of staff training and follow any other requirements stated in the staff agreement.
  6. Assist with improving the quality of the camp boating program.
  7. To consciously create a climate in camp that will foster the goals and objectives of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit and YMCA Camping Services.
  8. Complete any other duties deemed necessary by the Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Must posses or be willing to obtain current First Aid, CPR and Lifeguarding certifications from Ellis and Associates.
  3. Should have a varied background and experience in camping, aquatics, and working with children.
  4. Should have a general understanding of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit – YMCA Camping Services goals and objectives.

  • Ability to stand, sit (including on the ground), and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in all physical activities
  • Ability to sit and stand from a seated position (including from the ground) when interacting with children.
  • Capability to be actively engaging with youth outdoors for the majority of the day.
