General Function

The Early Learning Associate Teacher will be responsible for co-teaching with the Lead teacher with planning, development and implementation of all classroom activities including the Highscope Curriculum.

 

Education/Experience/Training/Certifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with young children in a licensed setting
  • Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate credential (CDA) preferred, not required
  • Experience working with children in a supervised setting preferred, not required

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports planning and implement a consistent child centered program in accordance to LARA, the HighScope curriculum and YMCA standards
  • Actively participates in all program components including; swim, gym and outdoor play
  • Maintains the appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
  • Maintains flexible scheduling within all hours of the program operations. Support with the development of weekly staff schedules including but limited to breaks, substitutes and/or shift changes
  • Understands each child and their family’s specific needs. Effectively communicates with families through daily conversations and journals, weekly learning documentations, bi-weekly newsletters, and family-Teacher conferences twice annually
  • Performs other assigned duties as directed by Supervisor

Abilities & Skills

  • Ability to participate in Early Learning activities in a variety of indoor and/or outdoor settings year round.
  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
  • Ability to participate in all physical activities in program areas.
  • Ability to sit and stand from a seated position on the floor when interacting with children.
