POSITION SUMMARY:

The Southtowns Family YMCA has an immediate opening for a custodian to work 3rd shift - overnight.  The custodian will perform cleaning and sanitizing tasks, and minor maintenance tasks. 

 

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:

40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 7:00 pm and 3:30 am.  The availability to work weekends is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintains the cleanliness of the facility. Follows the daily schedule to complete cleaning tasks throughout the facility.
  2. Follows facility protocol to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, including but not limited to doorknobs, tables, chairs, light switches, etc.
  3. Uses the appropriate equipment and janitorial supplies to clean and sanitize. Performs work to meet/exceed cleanliness standards. Maintains the equipment and reports problems to the supervisor.
  4. Completes facility maintenance logs as directed.
  5. Performs maintenance repairs such as painting, changing light bulbs, etc.
  6. Implements the preventative maintenance plan according to the schedule.
  7. Completes projects on time and as directed. Communicates delays effectively to the supervisor.
  8. Maintains the cleanliness of the grounds surrounding the facility. Removes garbage, sweeps, removes snow (shovel or snow blower) when necessary.
  9. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to buildings and grounds. Is knowledgeable of and follows OSHA safety standards, including Hazard Communications. Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  10. Reports unsafe conditions or building problems to the supervisor. Identifies problems and takes initiative to find appropriate solutions.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of one year of experience in housekeeping, and/or custodial work.
  2. Working knowledge of the tools and equipment used to complete cleaning tasks and minor maintenance projects.
  3. Ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
  4. Ability to work well with others.
