YMCA Camp Weona (CampWeona.com) is nestled among 800 acres of hills and forests in Gainesville, NY.  

Camp activities include swimming, archery, low & high ropes challenges, climbing wall, gaga ball, arts & crats, nature, science, and more.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Y operates overnight camp programs at Camp Weona (Gainesville, NY) and at Camp Kenan (Barker, NY). The Kitchen Aide assists in the provision of a safe, sanitary, and healthy kitchen environment and meal service for camp residents, and provides guidance and leadership to campers. 

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a residential position where food and lodging are provided during hours of work. The work week follows the camper session which begins each Sunday and ends on Friday with a 24 hour break in-between. Dates of employment include a week of training starting June 23, 2024, 7 weeks of program, and concludes on August 179, 2024.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists with meal set-up, including dishes, utensils, and beverages.
2. Assists with food preparation.
3. Refills platters and pitchers during meals, cleans up spills, assists campers.
4. Cleans and sanitizes all surfaces, sweeps floors, mops floors, empties trash, and cleans trash cans.
5. Puts away dishes, utensils, pots/pans in a neat and organized manner.
6. Ensures PPE compliance.
7. Maintains a safe and clean kitchen, including cooler, freezer, and storeroom.
8. Maintains a clean and neat appearance while on duty.
9. Understands and follows all NYS Department of Health and ACA standards.
10. Carries out other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be at least 16 years of age.
2. Must have valid NYS Working Papers if under 18 years of age.
3. Have the desire and ability to work around children in a fast paced, recreational environment.
4. Able to read, write, understand, and communicate directions.
5. Must be dependable and reliable.

Daily pay rate:  $37
