POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for leveraging the Y’s membership base in support of philanthropy and social impact.

Specifically, the Director of Annual Giving is responsible for:

  • Management of “Top Gifts” donors and prospects, typically with a giving potential of $1,000 - $25,000, as a primary campaigner and/or as a secondary campaigner supporting Y volunteer leaders, Executive Directors of Y Family Centers, and other Y senior leadership;
  • Support for Community Leadership Boards (CLB), coordinating with Family Center Leadership to develop and implement standard operating procedures, board orientations and training, fundraising, and other volunteer engagement activities of seven regional advisory boards;
  • Support for Mission in Action tours, coordinating with Family Center Leadership to design, recruit, and implement mission-driven site-based tours of the Y’s work in action in each of the seven regions the Y serves.

The Director of Annual Giving is an integral member of the Development Team and works closely with Family Center and Social Responsibility operational leadership and Marketing. Focusing on “member-donors” with a capacity for increased giving, the Director of Annual Giving is expected to raise at least $500,000 annually as a primary or secondary campaigner. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Fundraising

  • In coordination with the Development Team and Family Center leadership, establish regional Annual Giving goals and strategy;
  • Oversee, in partnership with Family Center Leadership, CLB board giving;
  • Direct, in collaboration with Family Center Leadership, cultivation, and solicitation of “Top Gifts” donors and prospects (identified by wealth screens, “super-users” and Listen 360 reviews, and other screening methods);
  • Support Y Family Center associates in the design and implementation of center-based fundraising activities, specifically around “Rally for the Y,” “Send a Kid to Camp,” “Turkey Trot,” and “End of Year” annual giving efforts.

 

Training

  • Provide fundraising training to Y associates and board volunteers involved with soliciting donors to the Y’s annual giving campaigns;
  • Provide orientation and support with Family Center Executive Directors for Community Leadership Board engagement.

 

Outreach

  • Oversee regional Mission in Action tours;
  • Support, in collaboration with Family Center Leadership, CLB recruitment and engagement.
