How this role contributes to the Y’s mission:
As a Y Head Swim Team Coach, you will assist with and supervise teaching, administration, and deck coaching for the competitive swimming program. You will lead Swim Team Coaches to train and supervise swimmers using a competitive philosophy. You will be responsible for ensuring that Swim Team Coaches conduct safe, effective team practices and swim meet warm-up sessions. You will be supported in your work as a part of the leading mission-driven organization for strengthening community, and the area’s largest provider of swim lessons. You will be a positive role model for youth members at the Y. As a Y Head Swim Team Coach, you’ll contribute to the Y and to the community by enhancing the well-being and safety of all.
This work is right for you if you have:
- A love of swimming and of helping youth and adults learn
- At least 3 years of prior experience in competitive swimming
- The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
- A willingness to obtain the Y Lifeguard or Coach’s Safety training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Basic First Aid certifications
- Some formal education in Health, Physical Education or Recreation
- An active coach membership through USA Swimming
