What are we looking for?

The Director of Billing and Accounts Receivable plays a key role on the Versant Health Operations Team, responsible for directing the efforts for our billing of premium and claim charges to our customers for all core systems. This position is also responsible for managing the cash posting, accounts receivable, collections and month end close activities.  This position is also responsible for managing the customer interactions with our help lines and collections calls and activities related to balances due. Responsible for developing both tactical plans and strategic process improvement opportunities (automation, quality, analytics, etc.). These solutions as well as day to day operational opportunities are vetted through effective partnership and collaboration with the Senior Director of Enrollment and Billing, Operations leadership and other departments throughout the organization. Responsible for achieving business strategy objectives, standardized processes and oversight of quality, operational metrics, and performance guarantees related to service level goals. Identify and implement best practices to create support our customers in a manner that is reflective of the Versant Health brand strategy. Oversee day to day operations for all billing, accounts receivable and collections activities. Monitor internal staff and Vendor functions to ensure proper completion and management of Billing functions.

 

Where you will have an impact

 

  • Directs, implements, maintains, and oversees Versant Health’s Billing efforts, including related policies, procedures, and processes necessary to ensure Versant Health’s our business efforts are conducted properly.
  • Establish standard expectations across the program, creating processes necessary for each unique system operation needs: Identifying, evaluating and prioritizing initiatives and resources; implement through influence rather than direct line authority.
  • Manage SOC controls as defined for Versant business to successful audit results. 
  • Responsible to manage team performance and data management in accordance with defined SOC controls for all premium invoicing, cash posting and receivables management processes.
  • Support initiatives to transition Billing functions from external vendor to Versant staff. Working to develop and build the team and service performance levels expected.
  • Initiate effective practices to manage premium discrepancies to resolve via recovery of funds or modifications of enrollment to alleviate aged receivable balances.
  • Work with HSP vendor and internal teams to implement systemic billing for all HSP ASO, FFS and Health Plan customers.
  • Ensures the service provided by the Billing team efforts as well as direct service to customers are performed consistent with the organizations philosophy and strategies established by the leadership
  • Document the strategies, initiatives, work plans, targets, and results to assure a disciplined execution of all billing efforts for Versant staff and external vendor staff are attained.
  • Reviews complex questions, concerns and complaints relative to the billing teams processes, and provides leadership and support to all entities and areas as appropriate
  • Direct the Billing and Billing Vendor teams to include selection, training and development, coaching, counseling, and performance management.
  • Develop long and short-term strategic plans and goals for each unit as well as the department.
  • Ensure timely completion of objectives and corporate projects that support Versant Health and the corporate strategies and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement effective reconciliation and workflow activities to ensure documented accuracy of billing, enrollment loading, and updates, EDI services for claims and all related items within the department
  • Mentor, coach, and counsel department leadership to ensure best practices, professional growth, and accountability for achievement of goals and meeting of established monthly KPI and metrics defined.
  • Maintain effective professional working relationships with peers and coworkers, including vendors and clients.  Model exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure that new and existing client’s enrollment, encounter, and other reportable data are accurate and processed in accordance with contractual and internal standards; including client contact and internal coordination as required to be successful.
  • Respond to elevated client inquiries and act to resolve high level issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with IT to identify, develop, and implement initiatives that leverage technology and automation to increase processing efficiencies and reduce cost/risk.
  • Develop and manage department budget and maintain staffing models which align staffing with the budget, corporate objectives, and business and production needs.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on metrics to document the quality, quantity, timeliness and accuracy of departmental tasks, workloads, and outcomes.
  • Establish and meet appropriate Service Level Agreements for customers including acceptance rates for encounter submissions, membership file loading and EDI claim acceptances.
  • Build labor/management partnership.

What’s necessary to do the job?

 

  • Ten + years leadership in Health Care operations, preference for Enrollment and Billing related experience.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in health care plan operations
  • Premium billing, premium collections, and accounts receivable experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead Compliance and HIPAA Operations, External Risk Assessments and Audits.
  • Practical experience and application of Privacy and Compliance management methodologies and frameworks
  • Privacy certification desirable

As a result, Associates must explicitly adhere to all data security guidelines established within the Company’s Privacy & Security Training Program.

The wage range for applicants for this position is [$135,000.00 to $145,000.00].

All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
