The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, is now hiring a Program Director for its Greenville, SC Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.

 

JOB SUMMARY

Consistent with The Salvation Army mission and core values, and in cooperation with colleagues, under the direction of the Kroc Executive Director, the Program Director will develop and implement operational, programmatic and staff development strategies to enhance the customer experience. The Program Director will also be responsible for increased member and community participation in all Kroc Center activity, while leading staff to deliver excellent customer service. Ensures that the program and service operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures. Oversees preventative maintenance of fitness equipment, space, aquatic and pool facilities, youth spaces, music and art supplies, as well as all recreational equipment including gym, sport court, and outdoor fields. Develops programs for The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center based upon ongoing needs, assessment, and business plan.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of the principles and practices specific to the department's administration.

 

Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures.

 

Knowledge of best practices and industry trends of fitness programs and keep current with changes and equipment that will affect fitness programming.

 

Knowledge of sports leagues, current market trends, and how to best utilize facilities to accommodate programming.

 

Knowledge of youth day camps, current trends, and how to oversee safe and enriching programming.

 

Knowledge of the principles and practices of the supervision and management of personnel.

 

Ability to operate and generally maintain all office equipment. This would include, but is not limited to the copier, fax machine and computers. Ability to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Ability to promote a cohesive, positive, and service minded staff. Ability to plan and complete work in a manner to ensure compliance with deadlines. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.

 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES

May be required to do minor maintenance on fitness or recreation equipment.

 

Work requires the ability to lift and carry and / or push/pull moderately heavy (25- 50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment.

Moderate mobility; duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an environment where there may be little physical discomforts associated with changes in temperature, physical effort associated with cleaning and demonstrating fitness equipment as well as discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Recreation Management or Business Administration or related field  and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience directing operations in significant recreational, athletic, aquatic, youth, and entertainment facilities and minimum of two (2) – three (3) years prior experience supervising and managing multiple task professional staff, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Personal Trainer and/or Group Exercise Certified
  • Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor
  • Bloodborne Pathogen (training provided by employer)
  • Safe From Harm (training provided by employer)
  • Holds or Qualifies as Certified Pool Operator within six months of attaining position.
