The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a full time Building Maintenance Technician for the Atlanta Kroc Center located in Atlanta, GA.
 

Job Summary

Performs a variety of skilled maintenance work for buildings and grounds including heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as well as routine grounds maintenance pool maintenance and equipment repairs.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices used in at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, and air-conditioning equipment; Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved; Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in the trades involved; Ability to detect defects in equipment and make proper repairs or adjustments; Ability to follow instructions and work with little or no supervision; Ability to read, write and communicate the English language; Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding and lifts at heights up to 35’; Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints; Ability to use/operate hand saw, table saw, router, wire cutters, truck, planer, wood lathe, electric drill, ladder, tractor, joiner, drill press, hammer, gauges, shaper, sanding machine, hand tools, and various lawn mowers.

Education and Experience

Two (2) years course work from a technical or vocational school in construction, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning as well as plumbing and electronics, Three (3) years’ experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial building and grounds;

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications

Valid State Driver’s License

C.P.R. and First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions.

Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25 – 50 lbs) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently; Ability to lift and carry heavy (50 – 100 lbs) materials, supplies and equipment occasionally; Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing and some climbing;Work is performed primarily in a building environment; however, time is spent outside (approximately 25% to 75% of the time) exposed to temperature extremes, dirt, dust, noise, etc.
