The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a great opportunity for an Executive Administrative Assistant supporting the Assistant Principal of Training and Business Administration for the Evangeline Booth Training College in Atlanta, GA. Job Summary

Assist Evangeline Booth College’s (EBC) Assistant Principal for Training and Business with superior administrative support; performs advanced, complex, and often confidential administrative work; composes, prepares, and processes a variety of routine paperwork necessary for office operations; files and records department information and maintains an effective bring-up system; assists in coordinating arrangements for EBC campus special events, seminars, and training meetings. Designs and produces graphic materials for various brochures, programs, and other documents for events; provides proofreading and editorial assistance in an accurate and creative manner. Plans, develops, and designs new and innovative visual presentation and art elements and brochures based on overall direction;ensures that visual presentations are in alignment with message and mission of The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth College; ensures that overall visual design is eye-catching, attractive, and effective in generating a high level of interest and awareness in the information being presented.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of executive office practices and procedures. Knowledge of effective and efficient recordkeeping practices and procedures. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Knowledge of and experience in report and presentation preparation, recordkeeping, public relations, interpersonal relations, and business communications both oral and written. Ability to represent and project both a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army as is characteristic of the executive administrative level positions. Ability to build and maintain positive, effective, and professional working relationships with executive level Salvation Army officers as well as the individuals they come in contact within the community. Ability to learn the broad scope of department operations and serve as an information resource to provide assistance in a timely and effective manner. Ability to prepare spreadsheets and to maintain computer databases. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing in english. Knowledge of graphic arts principles and techniques. Knowledge of desktop publishing techniques. Knowledge of the latest modern technology and resources for graphics design and ability to serve as a technical resource for the publication staff.



Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. required, supplemented by post high school secretarial and graphic arts, liberal arts, journalism courses, or a related field, with a bachelor’s preferred; Six years progressively responsible experience performing executive assistant work in a general office including experience coordinating arrangements for special meetings and events including experience creating and producing published documents or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.



Licenses and Certifications

Valid State Driver’s License



Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations. Ability to operate general office equipment including a telephone, computer, scanner and adding machine. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to staff or outside contacts requiring assistance. Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines. Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision. Ability to maintain the confidential nature of the department. Ability to exercise a high degree of tack, diplomacy, and confidentiality while working with high-ranking executives. Ability to make sound decisions and resolve operational problems in the absence of an immediate supervisor. Ability to work on multiple projects effectively and efficiently without becoming frustrated or disorganized. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to accomplish results with high quality standards and deadlines. Ability to proof-read pages in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to perform and complete creative tasks in a flexible manner and under the pressure of tight deadlines. Ability to operate a computer system to generate and publish graphic documents. Ability to visually critique graphic illustrations and printed materials. Medium amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 30 lbs.) 10-20% of work time.
