The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Case Aide for the Metro Atlanta Area Command, located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Job Summary
Provides daily supervision, monitoring, reporting, and technical support services to consumers in a residential shelter environment. Interviews and screens consumers for eligibility to receive the Salvation Army’s residential assistance; maintains appropriate in addition to ongoing written and verbal communication with clinical and other professional staff in relationship to daily consumer activities; refers consumer to other community service agencies when appropriate; performs crisis intervention counseling when needed; works with individual and groups to develop life management skills; facilitates an emotional and physical environment conductive to enhancing positive consumer morale and stabilization; reports to the Lead Case Worker.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of basic recordkeeping practices and procedures. Knowledge of domestic violence and poverty issues. Knowledge of individual and group counseling as well as crisis intervention techniques. Knowledge of community resources and agencies providing social service assistance. Knowledge of MS Office Products with a strong emphasis on MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of client’s records. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures. Ability to operate Microsoft office programs including excel spreadsheet.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. And One-year experience performing security or social service work is preferred, Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications
Valid State Driver’s License; CPR and First Aid Certification
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action. Ability to think clearly and quickly in order to maintain control of client caseload. Ability to emphasize and use crisis intervention appropriately. Ability to serve as a role model with physical and emotional health adequate to meet the demands of the positions. Ability to be non-judgmental in determining services for clients. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Work is performed in a normal office and lodge environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
