The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Case Worker with a CAS certification at a minimum to manage our drug treatment program for the Metro Atlanta Area Command, located in Atlanta Georgia

Job Summary
Monitors assigned caseload of consumers participating in a short-term life management program; establishes program plan/goals and evaluated consumer's progress plan/goals and evaluated consumer's progress by conducting routine meetings with consumer and/ or staff ; serves as advocate for consumer in order to acquire services that will enable them to functionally cope with their environment.
counsels clients and reviews all client assessments and individual action plans, Ensures program is administered with established policies and procedures and budget constraints, Builds and maintains effective working relationships with community agencies in order to make appropriate client referrals.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of social services and social work as it relates to homeless and transitional shelter care; Knowledge of the principles and practices of crisis intervention; Knowledge of social service resources and agencies in the community; Knowledge of family dynamics and issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse; Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices; Ability to supervise work of case workers and shelter staff as well as ability to train the same in the proper methods and procedures for performing work; Ability to establish productive relationships with potential employers and other relevant service providers in the community; Ability to develop program plans and goals based on client’s needs; Ability to evaluate the client’s progress toward program goals; Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors; Ability to interview clients and to obtain pertinent information; Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and complete case notes and client records; Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines; Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients and community agencies; Ability to read, write and communicate the English language; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple cases at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized. Ability to think clearly and quickly in order to maintain control of client caseload; Ability to effectively work on multiple cases at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Human Services, or a related social service field, And Two years' experience performing progressively responsible social service case management work, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications

Valid State Driver’s License
Certified addiction counselor


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements; Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking; Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting ,and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10 % of work time, Duties are usually performed seated. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
