Housing Monitor/ Safety Officer (Casual, PRN)
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a casual Housing Monitor/ Safety Officer for the Louisville Area Command, located in Louisville, Kentucky.
Monitors the behavior and activities of clients participating in a Salvation Army emergency housing program; guards the security and safety of Salvation Army facilities and buildings to ensure compliance with shelter rules and policies and to protect the safety of staff and clients.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of security practices and procedures. Ability to influence and control human behavior and enforce security rules and guidelines. Ability to respond to emergencies quickly and in a calm and effective manner while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective actions. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required, and six months' experience working with the public with experience working in a security or social service environment preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
First Aid and C.P.R. Certification, Narcan training (we will train)
Approved background check report required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (less than 25 – 50lbs,) materials, supplies, and equipment. Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking, and climbing stairs on a frequent change basis. Work is performed in a normal social service housing and office environment where there are moderate discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
This position is designed to fill in for staff vacations, sick days, or other times as needed. Could be assigned to work any of 3 shifts with reasonable advance notice.
