The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Driver for the Pasadena Corps, located in Pasadena, Texas.
Drives a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from various locations; ensures the vehicle meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operator’s maintenance in accordance with established standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the assigned geographical area. Knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices including proper safety precautions. Knowledge of acceptable food storage and cleaning techniques. Ability to organize pick-up tickets and to schedule route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers. Ability to properly clean kitchen appliances and utensils. Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Education and Experience
No formal education required, And Prior experience driving a bus and working with the elderly preferred, Or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Certifications: Valid State Driver’s License CPR & First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to drive a van safely and in compliance with laws, policies, and regulations. Duties require frequent periods of physical mobility including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and lifting. Physical duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting. Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying adults and heavy objects (more than 75 lbs.) occasionally. Working Conditions: Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
