Sorting Room Supervisor
Supervises and participates in the work performed by employees and community service workers in the warehouse; ensures that all donated items are processed through the warehouse in a timely manner and in accordance with established standards; ensures the thrift store remains adequately stocked,

Serves as a lead worker to warehouse staff (employees, beneficiaries and community service workers) and volunteers; schedules and monitors their work; instructs and trains staffin the proper methods and procedures for performing work; inspects work in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness; responds to employee's questions and assists in resolving operational and personnel problems; ensures the work is performed in compliance with established standards, policies and procedures.
Monitors the arrival and distribution of all donations ensuring that items reach the appropriate destination in a timely manner.
Monitors the supply of items available in the warehouse in order to determine the areas needing additional stock.
Participates in the inspection of donated items in order to help determining the appropriate price; inspects appliances to ensure they are in proper working order; discards items in accordance with established procedures.
Participates in taggmg items with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established procedures.
Participates in packing items in boxes; ensures that boxes are marked accordingly; assists in transporting boxes to appropriate warehouse area.
Assists in loading and unloading frucks as needed; supervises the loading of the rag fruck.
Participates in the housekeeping duties; ensures that the warehouse area is maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
Ensures the warehouse area is properly maintained and secured at all times; keeps the dock and storage area clean, organized and in confon-nance with generally accepted standards for safety and fire codes,
Participates in the preparation and distribution of receipts to donors.
Performs other related work as required,
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:
Hand-Held Tools Fork Lift Pallet Jack
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred, and three years' experience performing warehouse work with at least six-month experience in a supervisory capacity, or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Fork Lift License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of effective and efficient warehouse operations.
Ability to lead, motivate and evaluate the work of co-workers.
Ability to sort and determine the suitability of donated items.
Ability to prepare accurate and complete inventory records.
Ability to ensure the warehouse area and equipment are maintained in a neat, orderly, and secure manner.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with donors and Center staff.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Physical ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building
Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dilt, and the like,
