Family Store Assistant Manager
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a full-time Family Store Assistant Manager at the Thomson Family Store location for the Augusta Area Command.
Supervises and participates in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures; ensures the accountability and security of cashier funds; maintains the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise ensuring that displays remain well-stocked; assists customers in locating items and prices and explains store policy; assists employees in resolving routine problems and performing special assignments; assumes the responsibilities of the Family Store Manager as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of effective and efficient techniques for merchandising retail store items; knowledge of the principles and practices of basic mathematics; knowledge of effective customer service techniques; ability to prepare and maintain attractive merchandise displays; ability to supervise, lead, and motivate the work of subordinate employees; ability to assume additional supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Family Store Manager; ability to operate a cash register; ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; ability to perform mathematical computations and count change; ability to use/operate various general office equipment, telephone, computer, fax machine, photocopy machine and calculator.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D, and one (1) year working in a retail store preferably a Salvation Army Family Store with some experience supervising the work of co-workers, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements; ability to stand for extended periods of time; ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle. Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
