he Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a casual, work as needed Child Care Worker for the Augusta Area Command, located in Augusta, GA.
Provides child care services for children in the child watch areas including personal care, hygiene, learning and development activities and specialized programs; prepares and maintains record; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of child care property. Assists with the set-up, oversight, and cleanup of children’s parties as scheduled.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development; knowledge of the principles and practices of early childhood curriculum development; knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children; ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood programs and activities; ability to use/operate general office equipment, playground equipment, nursery equipment, and classroom equipment.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D required; And Two (2) years experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school; Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License; C.P.R. and First Aid Certification, will be acquired as directed by supervisor; Safe from Harm Certification, will be acquired as directed by supervisor.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; Ability to observe children and ensure their safety; Ability to lift, hold, and carry toddlers on a regular basis; Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis; Work is performed in a normal child care environment where there are little physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
