Director of Operations Camp Grandview
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Director of Operations for the, Camp Grandview located in Jasper, GA.
Plans, schedules, assigns, monitors, maintains, and supervises the operations of Camp; serves as host to outside rental groups and liaison to Divisional Headquarters staff during special functions and events. Promotes awareness and generates financial support for the Camp.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol, and organizational structure. Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel and business management. Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations, marketing, and customer service. Knowledge of special event planning, techniques, and practices. Knowledge of American Camping Association standards including health/legal regulations and inspections. Knowledge of the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of this organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism and customer service. Ability to supervise, prioritize, motivate, monitor, and evaluate the work of employees. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate, complete, and timely manner. Ability to prepare effective printed materials for educational and promotional purposes. Ability to oversee and evaluate special events to include security during these events. Ability to read and interpret policies/procedures, legal documents, and requirements to ensure compliance. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Salvation Army officers, employees, and the community. Ability to administer a budget and monitor expenditures for compliance with the same.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Hospitality, or related field, with a master’s degree in the same preferred
five years progressively responsible experience in coordinating and supervising programs with at least five years supervisory experience,
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid State Driver’s License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to speak before large groups in person, radio, and television. Ability to travel to various locations in order to participate in public meetings, conferences, etc. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.). Work may be performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like but not limited to the office environment. Work may require driving a vehicle and working outdoors with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
