The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Housing Monitor for the Albany Shelter, located in Albany, Georgia.


Job Summary

Supervises and participates in performing the day-to-day activities necessary for the smooth operation of a loge/shelter/house providing housing, food, transportation, counseling, and educational assistance; ensures that paperwork is completed, and lodge rules are followed by all clients; ensures compliance with The Salvation Army policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of household management techniques; Ability to prepare and process records and statistics in an accurate and complete manner; Ability to supervise resident activities to ensure facility is properly maintained and secured in accordance with established policies and procedures. Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to read, write and communicate the English language; Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.




Education and Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D., preferred but not required; One (1) year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van; Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.




Licenses and Certifications

Valid State Driver’s License



Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects; Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing; Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck. Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (50-100+ lbs.) donations, i.e. furniture, appliances, etc. Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
