The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Seasonal Lifeguard for the Kroc Augusta, located in Augusta GA.

Job Summary:

Ensures the safety of pool patrons and assists with aquatic programs and pool operations. Work is performed under the general supervision of an Aquatics Coordinator.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge and ability to meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department and The Salvation Army; knowledge of principles and practices of education and child development consistent with the KROC Center and The Salvation Army; knowledge of current best practices in regards to the aquatics programs and keep current with new changes that will affect programs; knowledge of water rescue methods; knowledge of lifeguarding and first-aid practices and techniques; knowledge of swimming pool operations to include; sanitation, maintenance, and safety; ability to maintain a professional attitude, approach and to courteously and firmly interact with pool patrons; ability and skill in carrying out water rescues; ability to effectively provide leadership, counseling and education to youth, parents and staff; ability and aptitude to make decisions and meet commitments within established policies and procedures and handle sensitive situations appropriately with staff, children, and parents; ability to supervise staff and participants with varying educational and cultural backgrounds; ability to maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving; ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D; must have two (2) years of Lifeguarding experience. Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

Must have a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate and American Red Cross First Aid Certificate; must be certified in American Red Cross Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), for the Professional Rescuer or become certified within 30 days of employment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements and follow Aquatics Attendance Policy; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis; must be able to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminished performance; must be able to bend, squat, twist, and stand, as these movements are a regular requirement of this position; must be physically able to give emergency care if a situation arises; work is performed in a pool environment with some exposure to discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
