The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Lifeguard forThe Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Greater Atlanta, Peachcrest Unit, Decatur, Georgia.

Job Summary

Provides constant surveillance of pool activities; maintains the cleanliness of the pool and pool area; monitors and controls the chemical levels of pool water ensuring proper levels are always maintained; prepares pool records in an accurate and complete manner; supervises swimming competitions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of life saving techniques; Knowledge of proper pool management. Ability to supervise swimmers and provide constant surveillance of pool activities in order to ensure swimmer safety and to respond to emergency rescue when needed. Ability to perform life saving techniques, C.P.R. and first aid procedures in emergency situations; Ability to enforce all pool rules. Ability to test and adjust pool water to ensure proper chemical balance as well as the safety of the swimmers; Ability to prepare and maintain up-to-date pool records. Ability to use/operate a pool vacuum pump, photocopy machine, computer and calculator

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D. Six (6) Month’s experience working as a lifeguard, any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

Life Saving Certification; C.P.R and First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Ability to swim and perform lifesaving activities.
