Building Maintenance Worker - Charlotte, NC

Job Summary:
Cleans and maintains the buildings and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same daily; performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment; performs minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repair work.

Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies.

Sweeps, vacuums, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks.
 

Cleans windows; dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures.
 

Empties trash cans regularly; collects trash from grounds.

Assists in setting up meeting rooms; set up tables and chairs.

Monitors light fixtures to ensure all light bulbs are in working order, replaces bulbs as necessary.

Performs routine buildingmaintenanceactivities;performsminorplumingrepairsrequired by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.

PerformsmaintenanceandrepairofSalvationArmybuildingsandquarters;repairsroofs,sidings,doors,andsteps,etc.

Paints inside of Salvation Army buildings, as requested.

Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
 

Cleans surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected and surroundings are left neat and clean.

Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.


Other Responsibilities:

Displays special signs as needed.

Assists in performing building maintenance and repair work.

Assists in performing grounds keeping work.

May drive Salvation Army vehicle to pick-up and/or deliver miscellaneous items or to transport passengers.

Performs other related word as required.


Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education and Experience:

No formal education or experience required,

Six months experience performing general housekeeping duties,

OR

Any equivalent combination or training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Drivers License required.

Mental and Physical Abilities:

Ability to meet attendance requirements

Ability to read and communicate the English language.

Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing housekeeping and minor maintenance work.

Ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (50-100+lbs.) materials, supplies and equipment frequently.

Ability to perform duties through a combination of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.

Work is performed in a lodge/shelter/residentialfacilitywithsomeexposuretooutdoortemperatures,dirtanddust,and/or disagreeable sights and odors
