Lifeguard

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Lifeguard for the MS Gulf Coast Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, located in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Job Summary: Serves as a lifeguard for all pool operations; provides constant surveillance of pool activities.  Teaches water exercise and swimming lesson classes.

Performs other related work as required. which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of life saving techniques. Ability to supervise swimmers and provide constant surveillance of pool activities in order to ensure swimmer safety and to respond to emergency rescue when needed. Ability to perform live saving techniques, C.P.R. and first aid procedures in emergency situations. Ability to enforce all pool rules. Ability to organize and lead swimming lessons.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two years of experience working as a lifeguard and teaching swimming lessons, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor

Red Cross Certified Lifeguard

C.P.R. and First Aid Certification (upon hire)

Instructor Certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to swim and perform lifesaving activities.

Additional Information: Part-time  (19 hours per week)
