About this opportunity:

 

Cultivates, manages and solicits Major Gift donations for The Salvation Army, to support its programs and services;  seeks to increase donations from existing donors as well as identifies and cultivates new donors to support the programs and services of The Salvation Army; provides oversight and/or coordination of major gift donors; works directly with the Major Gifts Manager and Development team to develop a comprehensive development plan that includes cultivation of major gift resources, multi-year commitment funds and other strategic support; supports the Long Range Plan by assisting in positioning The Salvation Army to undertake a significant capital/endowment campaign as necessary.

Key responsibilities:

  • Achieves revenue goals by personally managing a portfolio of individual donors; researches develops, and maintains profiles on key prospects and top supporters; solicits donations and cultivates relationships to secure and increase ongoing support for The Salvation Army’s operating and capital needs.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates an aggressive Major Gifts program to reach monetary, cultivation, stewardship, and mission goals; periodically meets with the Major Gifts Manager to assess a variety of resource development strategies and implement best practices to achieve short-term and long-term goals of the development department.
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift donors and prospects; accompanies Advisory Board and Council members, volunteers, and leadership as needed in support of visits with funding prospects for the command; updates and maintains contact reports on a timely basis.

 

Administrative Responsibilities (30%)

 

Develops, prepares and monitors weekly and monthly reports illustrating progress; maintains and manages an efficient donor record-keeping and reporting system, ensuring that accurate and complete records are prepared and maintained for each donor and identified prospect.

 

Performs data entry into donor management system ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the same; runs reports from donor management system as requested.

 

Project Management Responsibilities (20%)

 

Recruits and assists with training Advisory Council members; sends requests for Advisory Council membership approval; attends Advisory Council meetings as needed.

 

Coordinates, implements, and ensures successful completion of all assigned special projects, which may include regional giving days among others.

 

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in liberal arts or related field, AND
  • Three years progressively responsible experience demonstrating a record of accomplishment in development or related,

OR

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like, but not limited to an office environment due to travel requirements.
