The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Case Aide (3rd Shift) for the Mabee Center, located in Fort Worth, TX. 

Schedule:
Saturdays-Sundays 7 pm - 7:30 am;
Mondays-Tuesdays 11 pm - 7 30 am

Job Summary:

Provides daily supervision, monitoring, reporting, and technical support services to clients in a residential shelter environment; interviews and screens clients for eligibility to receive the Salvation Army’s residential assistance; maintains appropriate records in addition to ongoing written and verbal communication with clinical and other professional staff in relationship to daily client activities; performs crisis intervention counseling when needed; works with individuals and groups to develop life management skills; facilitates an emotional and physical environment conducive to enhancing positive client morale and stabilization; reports pertinent information to the Case Aide Coordinator or Program Manager.

 

Essential Functions:

Monitoring Responsibilities (50%)

Monitors the activities of the residents ensuring safety and compliance with house rules and regulations, this includes when in chapel, recreation, and at meals; checks the security of all windows and doors; monitors cameras and makes periodic rounds of entire facility; records any unique situations occurring on assigned shift; prepares incident reports.

Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiates appropriate corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures; provides necessary crisis intervention; ensures 24-hour monitoring of clients; informs appropriate parties of special problems, needs, etc.

Works with individuals and groups as needed to enhance social skills and the ability to enjoy and function within a group living situation.

Inspects program area daily; provides individual instruction or correction to clients regarding proper use of the facility as needed; reports damage or other maintenance needs to Case Aide Coordinator.

Periodically monitors bed assignments; wakes up clients at designated time and instructs them to collect their sheets; ensures that all residents are out of the facility by the designated time.

Serves as advocate for victims at the hospital or Police Department; drives a vehicle to transport clients to medical, dental, and mental health appointments.

Assigns housekeeping and other tasks to residents; ensures that clients perform assigned house duties in the proper manner; ensures compliance with house rules and regulations.

Administrative Responsibilities (35%)

Completes required paperwork representing client intake for the day; inputs data into the computer in order to maintain computer records and generate client lists.

Maintains client and program records daily; submits required reports and statistics; prepares written incident reports.

Documents and monitors clients self-administration of medication as prescribed and in accordance with Shelter Care policies and procedures.

Performs data entry and light typing as required.

Intake and Discharge Responsibilities (10%)

Orients new clients to the program and prepares case records to facilitate case management; administers sexual offender checks, drug testing, and breathalyzer tests of clients as needed.

Prepares and distributes laundry tokens, towels, linens, clothing, and personal hygiene items; maintains accurate records of items dispensed; collects and inventories all dirty towels and sheets from clients.

Driving Responsibilities (5%)

Transports clients to and from various activities, outing, and other locations as needed.

Other Responsibilities:

Prepares work, recreational, and weekend passes for clients.

Maintains inventory of office, cleaning, and other necessary supplies; requisitions supplies through Program Manager as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Materials and Equipment:

Personal Computer General Office Equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic recordkeeping practices and procedures.

Knowledge of individual and group counseling as well as crisis intervention techniques.

Knowledge of community resources and agencies providing social service assistance.

Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior.

Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of client records.

Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.

Ability to serve as a role model with physical and emotional health adequate to meet the demands of the position.

Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D.,

and

One year experience performing social service work and Certified Nursing Assistant experience preferred,

or

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

Valid State Driver’s License (REQUIRED)

CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)

Physical Requirements:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.

Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action.

Ability to drive a vehicle safely and in accordance with all laws and regulations.

Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light to moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a residential facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like, but may be exposed to other discomforts associated a shelter environment.
