Position Summary:

The Corporate Trainer reports to the Learning & Development Manager and is responsible for the development and delivery of training programs to increase knowledge and develop skills and abilities of both our non-supervisory and supervisory employees. This will include training programs such as New Employee Orientation, as well as employee and leadership development soft skills like Customer Service, Creating A Great Work Environment, Thinking for Change, Interview & Selection Skills, Performance Management and others. Duties will include participating in needs assessments with key HR personnel and teams, strategic planning, developing training plans, creating training schedules, designing materials and curriculum, conducting training for staff in classroom, online, and/or blended learning and other training methodologies. The Corporate Trainer will also assist with promoting the Core Values and Core Competencies. This position requires superior initiative, judgment and creative ability to fulfill responsibilities.  Must be capable of working with people of various skill levels, personalities and expectations and must be continuously tactful and encouraging.

 

Essential Functions:

General Training and Development

  • Researches, strategizes, designs and creates course content and curriculum, training plans, audio/visual aids, test criteria, handouts, learning aids and evaluation/measurement tools; ensures the effectiveness of all related training materials, including procedures, manuals, handouts, etc. based on identified training needs.
  • Works with other members of the HR team to assure consistency of content and quality of training.
  • Conducts needs assessments to identify performance requirements and the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed by SYH’s employees and managers to achieve their performance requirements. Determines best solutions for delivering training to meet needs. This may include instructor-led training, eLearning, performance support tools, podcasts etc.
  • Delivers, presents and facilitates best-in-class training sessions to improve individual and/or organizational performance.
  • Institutes and manages a process and mechanism to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and learning outcomes.
  • Builds library of content, including, but not limited to, multimedia visual aids, eLearning, webinars, and just-in time-training.
  • Generates status and other types of reports relating to the training process and maintains training calendar.
  • Identifies opportunities for improving training methods and procedures; communicates recommendations appropriately.
  • Develops and maintains training tracking system.

 

Employee Development

  • Develops, designs, and delivers monthly New Employee Orientation (NEO) for new employees. Ensures NEO is engaging, interactive and informative for participants. Ensures NEO is comprehensive and relevant with the goal of integrating the employee into SYH’s culture and introducing our Core Values.
  • Develops, designs and delivers various soft skills trainings for employees.
  • Coordinates the New Employee Orientation with employees, managers and presenters.
  • Identifies training needs of employees and develops training curriculum to meet those needs.

 

Management and Leadership Development

  • Works with Learning & Development Manager to develop, design and deliver leadership development courses. This includes but is not limited to courses such as Building Engagement, Coaching & Feedback, Performance Evaluations, Interviewing & Selection, etc.
  • Researches and makes recommendations on Leadership Development training programs.
  • Researches and makes recommendations for development, design and implementation of extended Onboarding Program.
  • Partners with stakeholders to implement training programs centered around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (eg: “Gender & Sexual Orientation: 101”, Working with Vulnerable Patient Populations,” etc.)

 

Maintain Compliance with Harassment Trainings

  • Reviews and updates existing harassment trainings for both non-supervisory employees and supervisory employees to maintain compliance with CA and Federal Law.
  • Assigns and track completion of appropriate trainings to appropriate staff.
  • Coordinates live, virtual training sessions for supervisory staff and coordinate qualified presenters.
  • Coordinates and deploys harassment eLearning for non-supervisory staff and track completion.

Job Requirements:

Education Required (Minimum level of education):

  • BA/BS degree in related HR, Business or training field OR 5 years working as a Trainer in a similar position with similar responsibilities

 

Experience Required (Minimum level of experience):

  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering measurable, best-in class training programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and training methodologies required
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in training needs assessments and training evaluations

              

Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job:

  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to design and develop written training materials of high quality

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:

  • Excellent project management and instructional design skills
  • Experience designing and developing health care corporate training programs preferred
  • Experience in developing and delivering management training and soft skills training like customer service and organizational communication
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience using Learning Management Software and Human Resource Information Systems
  • Experience developing eLearnings

 

Supervisory Experience: None required.
