What does a Transportation Manager do at Swire Coca Cola?
The Transportation Manager supports the execution of delivery of all soft drink products from all sourcing points and CPU Raw Materials (Swire produced and non-produced locations) to each Swire warehouse location in accordance with inventory replenishment plans. The Transportation Manager ensures that transportation practices are "best in class" according to industry standards and that all executional elements are consistent with Swire's Sales & Financial budgets and goals. Oversee administration of the Transportation Management System, GPS Carrier Tracking systems, and other related technology and software. The position reports to the Director of Transportation and Fleet.


Responsibilities

  • Establish strong financial and KPI measures for internal execution of Transportation needs in order to discover and correct any potentially negative trends that would lead to missed sales opportunities (think of shortages in CDL drivers in the U.S. and internal training programs to mitigate)
  • Lead the strategy of the Transportation Department as it relates to short-term and long-term planning, deployment of company resources and assets, development and responsibilities of internal personnel, and carrier relationships
  • Create and manage relationships with a large variety of 3rd party (brokered) carriers in order to provide Swire with flexibility in its transportation capabilities, especially in slower and busier selling seasons
  • Manage contracts established by Swire Procurement with dedicated logistics providers where operationally and financially advantageous to the company to meet product sourcing needs. Establish routines to monitor logistical and financial performance of these dedicated partners
  • Lead the training and development of the department for succession planning and employee retention
  • Manage Load Securement Program and Claims Processing to optimize recovery of company losses
  • Create Capital plans with internal Fleet Team for the company owned transport fleet
  • Drive process excellence, efficiency, and effectiveness through the application of operational excellence/lean approach, including supporting the development of KPIs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in logistics, supply chain, business management or operations management preferred
  • 4+ years leadership experience in transportation management, including capital planning for fleet assets required
  • 4+ years experience in transportation systems planning and direct connection with customers required
  • 2+ years managing a department and/or direct reports required
  • 2+ years CPG experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of transportation practices and industry standards
  • Specific knowledge of all state and federal motor carrier laws and regulations, including inter-state commerce
  • Demonstrated ability to design financial measurements and KPIs to drive improved business performance
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, cutting through complexity to succinctly summarize insights and solutions for optimizing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts in a clear concise manner to all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional financial acumen including strong analytical, financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting skills
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office, Power BI, TMS and SAP systems
