As an Employee Relations Partner you will work with managers and other members of leadership to provide guidance and advise on difficult employee relations issues, including complaints, disciplinary actions, and other similar issues. You will also serve as a fair and neutral fact finder in internal investigations.
Responsibilities:
- Build constructive relationships with critical stakeholders to share information and influence change
- Counsel leaders on difficult performance management and disciplinary actions, ensuring that such matters are handled in a fair and consistent manner
- Partner with leaders on the development of corrective action and performance improvement plans
- Conduct internal investigations on workplace situations and prepare all required documentation with a focus on issue resolution
- Provide detailed case management documentation, executive summaries and timelines clearly written and with recommended outcomes
- Collaborate cross functionally with division leaders and HR to resolve ER cases and sustain positive employee relations
- Analyze employee relations trends with the business to develop proactive strategies, solutions, and training programs
- Assists with the creation, updates, or implementation of new policies or practices relating to Employee Relations
- Take the lead or partner with others on new Employee Relations initiatives and projects
- Travel to Swire facilities approximately 15% of the time to meet with business leaders and/or conduct internal investigations
Qualifications to be successful in this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related
- 3+ years of employee relations experience
- Demonstrated experience conducting internal investigations into matters relating to workplace discrimination, harassment, bullying, substance use, or other similar employee relations matters
- Excellent understanding of best practices regarding performance management, progressive discipline, and performance improvement plans
- Excellent understanding of best practices regarding leave and reasonable accommodations
- Good understanding of federal employment laws (Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, etc.) as well as the ability to quickly learn multiple state employment laws
- Strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write cohesive emails, summaries and investigations plans/reports.
- Ability to communicate clearly during difficult conversations and reduce tension
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build relationships with managers and others within the organization
- Willingness to work in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands and make difficult decisions at a fast pace
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
