DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities of Maintenance Technicians and assist in maintaining and repairing production equipment and facility equipment and structures.  Create work schedules for reporting Maintenance Technicians, ensuring adequate staffing to meet plant maintenance needs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee Maintenance Technicians and provide direction regarding repair of production equipment as well as structural repairs to masonry, woodwork and building fixtures.
  • Support Maintenance Technicians on their individual career paths and provide them opportunities to achieve professional goals/objectives.
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to develop a total maintenance program to include preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Work with the Maintenance Planner to ensure work orders are initiated, modified and maintained.
  • Work with the Maintenance Parts-Order Clerk to ensure all parts and materials used are accounted for and processed in the inventory management software ensure accurate inventory tracking.
  • Conduct continuous training on all aspects of SugarCreek maintenance procedures and relevant work safety requirements(Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, etc.)
  • Perform data collection and provide feedback/reports as requested by Plant Management.
  • Submit purchase requests for tools, equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and standards.
  • Review past production schedules and estimate hour requirements for completion of different job assignments, using information to create efficient work schedules for future projects.
  • Explain company safety policies, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to Maintenance Technicians and relevant plant employees to reinforce proper compliance.
  • Work with Maintenance Manager to establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Address employee issues in the Maintenance Department as needed, elevating to Plant HR and Plant Management when necessary.
  • Coordinate with other Plant Supervisors/Managers on maintenance projects to minimize downtime.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  • Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED), or equivalent experience; vocational training in industrial maintenance or related field preferred.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in maintenance role, preferable in a food manufacturing facility.
Certification Requirements: None required.

ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Possess strong knowledge of industrial machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Able to communicate complex information effectively to other employees.
  • Able to troubleshoot effectively to diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Know how to use basic computer programs, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Know how to manage other employees and resolve issues between employees.
  • Able to strictly follow all safety procedures and policies in place.
  • Able to use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Know how to operate industrial-size equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Possess adequate hand dexterity to manipulate or move objects.
  • Able to work well with others in a team environment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
No unusual physical requirements. Physical requirements are consistent with typical industrial maintenance positions, including some sitting with some standing/walking required.  Other physical activity like using stairs or moving items weighing less than 50lbs is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Some travel to other locations is required.

Little work is performed in a comfortable, indoor, office-like facility.  Most work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery.  Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment.  Very little work is performed outside of the manufacturing facility.
