DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Oversee company-wide Sanitation Program across all SugarCreek locations in Ohio, Indiana & Kansas. Work with chemical vendors and equipment manufacturers to ensure compliance with personnel safety requirements, sanitary/hygienic design, and sanitation requirements. Must be able to work with cross functional leadership teams both at Corporate and at each of the facilities to drive continuous improvement and manage various projects, equipment moves/installs, investigations for micro/spoilage concerns, etc. Work with facilities and Corporate FSQA teams to standardize sanitation programs, SOPs, standards, etc. companywide. This individual will be the key point of contact for the Management Teams at each location and Corporate Leadership when it comes to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and overall performance of the Sanitation Program across the organization.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Degree or equivalent (GED), or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or Microbiology preferred.
Experience: Five years’ experience managing sanitation teams within USDA or FDA micro-sensitive environments preferred.
Certification or Licensure Requirements: Safe Quality Foods (SQF) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification preferred.
ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
No unusual physical requirements. Physical requirements are consistent with typical sanitation management positions, including some sitting with some standing/walking required. Other light physical activity like using stairs or occasionally moving items weighing less than 50lbs may be required as needed. Travel between the SugarCreek facilities will be required, as needed, to support plant operations. Some travel will be required to also visit equipment manufacturers, trainings, and possibly some vendor visits, as needed. Schedule may fluctuate some from week to week with hours on an “off-shift” (2nd/3rd) to support the facilities as needed, while other days/weeks would consist more of a 1st Shift schedule.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Some travel to other locations is required.
Some work is performed in a comfortable, indoor, office-like facility. Some work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Safety wear (PPE) is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment. Very little work is performed outside of the manufacturing facility.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Design, implement and improve Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), equipment-specific cleaning procedures, and other programs across all facilities to ensure proper Sanitation standards are maintained on a nightly basis.
- Ensure all needed sanitation and safety training has been performed in timely manner for all sanitation personnel.
- Examine and assess current job tasks to ensure they do not compromise employee/contractor safety.
- Work with Plant/Corporate Management to perform sanitary design assessments for new equipment, equipment modifications and changes to plant infrastructure.
- Accompany third-party auditors or inspectors (FDA, OSHA) during plant audits/inspections, providing information on sanitation practices and policies.
- Improve sanitation process by reducing needed resources (i.e. water, wastewater, chemicals, labor) whenever possible.
- Monitor & manage costs at the facilities and at the corporate level as it relates to Sanitation. Cost included but not limited to: water usage, chemical usage, new technology/equipment needs, wastewater treatment, PPE & consumables, etc.
- Manage relationships with chemical vendors, contact negotiations, and service level for each of the campuses to ensure expectations are met/exceeded by these vendors.
- Standardize and work with the facilities to manage Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS), including Periodic Equipment Cleaning (PEC) & Periodic Infrastructure Cleaning (PIC) to ensure the programs are effectively maintaining sanitary conditions within each facility.
- Assist with plant’s pest control program and any possible concerns, as it relates to Sanitation and the sanitary/hygienic conditions of the facilities.
- Coordinate Internal Audits of Sanitation Program/Procedures, in addition to 7-step cleaning audits to observe cleaning procedures are properly followed and implemented at all locations.
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
- Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
- Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

- Know how to use basic computer programs, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Able to set and accomplish long and short-term goals.
- Able to maintain and develop cleaning procedures.
- Know adenosine triphosphate (ATP)/Micro/Pathogen testing procedures.
