Lead Manufacturing Engineer

PURPOSE

The Lead Engineer defines problems, conducts and narrows research, analyzes criteria, finds and analyzes solutions, and makes decisions. In this position much of an engineer's time is spent on researching, locating, applying, and transferring information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Creativity, innovation of existing departmental processes, and/or existing products
  • Reliability, be available to complete tasks/projects as required by internal/external customer requirements
  • Communicate with various departments or with individuals directly associated with assigned tasks/projects (verbal and written)
  • Occasional travel; mainly for training purposes, customer support/projects, potential trips to Japan, or validation trips
  • Take verbal and/or written directions on tasks, training, projects, or department/company policies
  • Provide verbal and or written results, a summary of tasks/projects, or requests to various persons during the execution of tasks/projects
  • Produce the end product of requested tasks/projects in the form of components, assemblies, drawings, data files, proposals, or reports
  • Determines the selection of the most appropriate and cost effective manufacturing engineering tools, machines, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
  • Implements process adjustments and improvements as needed.
  • Develop and maintain procedures to insuring quality relating to all production processes. Support of all ISO registrations.
  • Resolves production issues in a timely manner.
  • Assists other manufacturing engineers as needed.
  • Assist design engineers in the selection of manufacturing best practices.
  • Provides technical expertise and assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Investigates manufacturing costs and supports continuous cost improvement strategies
  • Frequently works independently exercising professional and technical judgment.
  • Completely handle all manufacturing aspects of a new product introduction.
  • Lead project or portions of projects.
  • Provide training to engineers.
  • Will be assigned task for training and development purposes.
  • All other duties as assigned

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasional physical demand of moving or rearranging files and file storage boxes, and or product
  • Fast-paced Office Environment
  • Occasional Physical Demand for moving and relocating production equipment on the factory floor.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment
  • The work environment may expose employees to noise, heat, cold, dust, oil, grease, and/or coolants.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar discipline
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience
  • Proficient with CAD software (Design & Manufacturing principles)
  • Complete understanding of common manufacturing practices
  • Ability to handle multiple projects
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Ability to deal with internal and external customers tactfully and in a professional manner
