Working in conjunction with the VP of Product, Product Specialist, closely with the development team, and other stakeholders, the Product Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining the vision, strategy, roadmap, business goals and marketing activities for their product portfolio.

What the job is all about:

 

Product Management

    • Research market problems and competitive landscape
    • Gather and integrate product ideas from customers, Sales, market research, and engineering into compelling and prioritized product capabilities.
    • Identify new vertical opportunities as they emerge or are directed.
    • Maintain a knowledgebase of Win/Loss product usage data gathered from Sales and directly from customers. Use this data to guide new product line requirements.
    • Define, monitor, and maintain product pricing, margins, and various business models and review regularly to adjust to market forces (competitors, and feedback from Sales).
    • Maintain relationships with key customers to ensure successful ongoing use of the product and gather feedback and input for roadmap
    • Search for key development partners to augment the product line, brand and new markets.
    • Creating and sharing roadmap vision and strategy
    • Develop strategic multi-year product line roadmaps.
    • Define product positioning and messaging, maintaining updates over time to address new product capabilities, changes in industry trends, and entry into new markets. Maintain alignment of positioning and messaging with User Personas and GEOs serviced.
    • Author and provide appropriately scoped Market Requirements Document for new products, new releases for existing products, and new services, ensuring adequate detail to determine that the product responds to market requirements. This document will describe the capabilities to be implemented indicating whether these are customer requests, competitive matching or solutions to industry problems that are enabled via new or existing technologies.
    • Collaborate with Development and marketing teams to plan product lifecycle events (product launch, releases, end of life, etc.)
    • Communicate desired capabilities to the development team.
    • Responsible for training of internal resources such as sales and professional services

Product Marketing

    • Establish a distinctive competitive market position:
    • Maintenance and evolution of the brand
    • Collaborate with Product Marketing on:
      • Promotional literature (brochures, cut sheets, etc.)
      • Ads, Catalog, Website content, Product packaging
      • Creation and supervision of show reels & training videos
      • Success stories, Press releases, White papers
      • Demo/tradeshow kit supervision
      • Planning for key trade shows (IBC, NAB)
      • Marketing announcements
      • Launch and product update announcements
      • Preparation of sales and dealer information packages

Sales Support including:

    • Attend regular product strategy meetings and summits.
    • Participate in key customer demonstrations and proofs-of-concept
    • Assist RSMs and BDMs with responses to tender documents, sales strategy and technical questions for key opportunities.
    • Keep sales team up to date with new product status
    • Review and make adjustment to sales quotes when needed
    • Work with the Product Marketing & Pricing Systems team to ensure Salesforce is maintained with recent product information.

Other

    • Responsible for ensuring a positive end-to-end customer experience.
    • Assist in resolution of customer complaints regarding equipment, supplier and services
    • Develop the team to a leading, independent unit.

 

Who you are:

  • A post-secondary degree in a related field (Engineering, Marketing)
  • Good understanding of a production control room environment
  • Experience selling & marketing broadcast equipment (preferred)
  • Broadcast systems engineering experience (preferred)
  • Excellent knowledge of a live production environment (preferred)
  • Familiarity with complex system (hardware and software) development processes eg, Agile NPI, etc.
  • Experience working in or around studio broadcast – ideally in a technical role.
  • Experience of working and developing robotic products
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Product Management role or equivalent
  • Ideally local to the products – Ottawa, Canada
  • Office (primary) work environment.
  • Willing to Travel up to 25% of the time
  • Valid passport
  • Valid driver’s license
