Summary

The Manager of Marketing Technology will drive the optimization of the Firm's marketing technology tools, in the process increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Firm's marketing, business development, and practice management efforts. The position will utilize his/her marketing, technology (including artificial intelligence or AI), analytical, training, and project management skills to support the Firm in executing business development and digital marketing initiatives. This role will also work directly with the Firm’s Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer on special strategic projects. Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Marketing, this position will serve as a key member of the Marketing, Business Development, and Practice Management Department and will collaborate closely with several departments across the Firm, including IT, Finance/Accounting, and Talent Management, to ensure the systems and processes are exceeding the Firm’s needs. This position can be located in any of the Firm’s offices. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advises on industry tools and best practices and oversees training and rollout of marketing systems.
  • Serves as subject matter expert to evaluate and recommend innovative ways technology can improve the Firm’s marketing function and enhance the Firm’s business development goals.
  • Responsible for the effectiveness and management of marketing platforms, such as the Firm’s website, email marketing system, client relationship management (CRM) system, experience database, proposal generator, and data analytics. This role includes:
    • Taking ownership of solving problems and bringing fresh ideas for how the Firm can use technology to advance its business goals. 
    • Partnering with the Senior Client Relationship Analyst to optimize the Firm’s CRM (InterAction), including ensuring the integrity of data in CRM is maintained.
    • Partnering with the RFP & Pitch Manager to keep the experience database and proposal generator optimized for the Department and updated with content.
    • Analyze and report ROI on business development and marketing efforts, including event and mailing engagement.
  • Contributes to special projects and strategic initiatives under the guidance of the Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer.
  • Analyzes and creates a data-driven understanding of the client journey to influence strategic decisions and play key role in supporting Firm’s client experience program, The Parker Poe Way.
  • Partners with the Marketing Communications and Business Development Managers to develop and implement strategy and related tactics to raise the profile of Firm.
  • Drives the Department's use and understanding of AI tools such as large language models (LLMs) under the guidance of the Marketing Director.
  • Sets up email marketing campaigns (using Vuture platform): tracks, tests, and executes. Analyzes campaign for engagement and makes recommendations to BD team on targeted leads and growth opportunities.
  • Serves as a resource for educating others and gaining buy-in for both new and existing marketing technology platforms and programs, including by training attorneys and business professionals.
  • Collaborates closely with IT Department and serves as liaison between departments on marketing-related programs and platforms.
  • Provides business development support as needed to industry teams and/or practice groups, such as:
    • Coordinating informal client pitches.
    • Optimizing a team's CRM use.
    • Supporting a team's project management needs tied to marketing technology and business development.
  • Develops and enhances relationships with attorneys throughout the Firm to ensure the department is properly meeting Firm objectives and to forestall problems and enhance services to the Firm.
  • Adheres to all Firm policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Marketing Director and/or Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in marketing, business development, technology, and/or project management and a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communication, computer science, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience in a professional services firm and certification or continuing education credits in project management are preferred.
  • Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or other AI tools.
  • Experience with CRM systems, Google Analytics, email marketing platforms, and experience database management systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted marketing and business development principles and standards.
  • Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of attention to detail, accuracy, and curiosity, including the ability to unpack complex technological challenges.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to train and influence others, as well as flex style and delivery to varying audiences.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills. Demonstrates effective teamwork. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with employees, attorneys, clients, and the public.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed. Works independently with minimal supervision. Overcomes major obstacles and recognizes when issues should be escalated.
  • Comfortable working in a mixed-matrix environment with many stakeholders and potentially competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).

  • Ability to work after hours and on weekends as needed, as well as to travel overnight on occasion to other Firm offices.
