The Tax Intern - Spring 2023 position is designed to provide individuals currently pursuing either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (or related field) with assignments that further their knowledge of the tax function within a public accounting firm. Typically, incumbents will be in their senior year of college or in their final year of pursuing a more advanced degree.
NOTE: The Tax Intern may alternatively work as an Audit Intern in a cross-training environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting or Masters in related field from an accredited College or University.
  • Must have completed Intermediate Accounting II
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Must possess a high degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
  • Must be computer literate with the capability of performing at an intermediate to advanced level with respect to Microsoft Office Suite of products or similar software applications.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week with a preference of working 24 hours per week.
  • Must reach a client’s location/P&N office in a timely manner and to be on site at client and/or P&N offices to perform job responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitors workload on a weekly basis to ensure work for the coming week.
  • Stays current on firm policies.
  • Monitors billable hours and compare to target billable hours on a regular basis.
  • Attends training sessions as required.
  • If applicable, prepare for and take the CPA examination at every available opportunity.
  • Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that customer confidentiality is assured.
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the firm.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of the job successfully with or without reasonable accommodations.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and listen. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to focus. This position spends a significant amount of time sitting and operating a computer. Lifting requirements will not typically exceed 25 pounds.
