Founded on Skid Row in 1980, Para Los Niños provides education and wraparound support, serving over 10,000 children, youth, and families annually in some of the most underserved areas in Los Angeles. PLN fosters pathways to success by striving for excellence in education, family support, and comprehensive social-emotional, and community-based services.

Through early education, TK-8th grade education, youth workforce services, and family and community services Para Los Niño’s’ model provides a comprehensive, holistic approach to break the cycle of poverty and help children and youth thrive.

Position Overview  

The Youth Systems Navigator will work closely with agency staff, internal departments, and external partners to facilitate the availability and accessibility of resources for program participants. This position requires strong coordination skills, relationship-building abilities, and a commitment to improving the lives of our community members.

Duties 

  • Coordinate with agency staff to ensure that resources are current, relevant, and readily available to program participants.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather and maintain a comprehensive database of resources, including but not limited to housing assistance, healthcare services, educational programs, employment opportunities, and social support networks.
  • Maintain regular communication with external partners, such as community organizations, government agencies, and service providers, to identify available resources and establish referral pathways for program participants.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners to facilitate seamless access to services and resources for program participants.
  • Assist program participants in navigating available resources and connecting them to appropriate services based on their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure that program participants receive timely and effective assistance from resource providers.
  • Keep accurate records of resource utilization and participant referrals, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Stay informed about emerging resources, trends, and best practices in social services and community development to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as required.
  • Works closely with Director and Associate Director to identify strategic partners.
  • Supports with coordination of collaborative meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director or Associate Director.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements  

  • Proven experience in resource coordination and community outreach roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of social services, community resources, and referral systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and database management software.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation may be required.

Education and Certification Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, community development, or a related field. 
  • Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug test and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.  

Other Requirements  

  • Must have reliable transportation and State required automobile insurance coverage and valid Class C California driver’s license (mileage to be reimbursed).  
  • Clean driving record.

  • Approximately 50% of time is spent sitting, while frequently required to walk, stand and bend.
  • Must be able to speak and hear well. 
  • Good vision is imperative. 
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 
  • Employee will be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance.
