POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Financial Analyst – Business Planning & Treasury (“SFA”) role will be an integral part of the Corporate Finance team which serves as a valued partner to Opta’s business leaders. The SFA will be responsible for delivering key financial information and critical business insights to senior management and other key stakeholders. This role incorporates a combination of business planning and analysis, financial modelling, process/systems development, and treasury management to ensure that business and financial objectives are met. The ideal candidate will be excited to take on new challenges and eager to learn and develop new skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Planning:
- Develop relationships with various stakeholders and partner with them to prepare budgets, forecasts and manage and track their performance against set goals
- Assist with managing the overall business planning cycle, with a mindset towards continuous improvement
- Coordinate the consolidation of budget and rolling-forecast inputs and prepare analysis to the senior leadership team
- Perform business analytics and value-added commentary of monthly/quarterly trends & KPI performance
- Assist with business acquisition and integration support for modeling through “what-if” scenarios and sensitivity analyses for management and functional teams.
Treasury Reporting:
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly treasury reports, including global cash flow forecast and KPI dashboards (liquidity ratios, working capital metrics, etc.)
- Perform on-going monitoring of global cash availability and liquidity across all business operations
- Assist with quarterly reporting to lenders, rating agencies and monitoring of compliance with debt covenants and other credit requirements
- Aggregate global information on CAPEX project, prepare monthly reporting and analysis that tracks actual vs planned spend, and maintain a rolling forecast for CAPEX
Other:
- Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the following:
- Business acquisition and integration support
- Post-completion review and analysis of major CAPEX projects
- Financing and insurance renewal support
- Yearend audit and financial reporting support
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Specific performance and personal competencies:
- Articulate, straightforward, and succinct with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well-rounded business acumen and experience in assessing operations and business processes
- Strong analytical, financial and systems skills
- Advanced knowledge of Excel is required and experience with Power BI, Tableau or other data analytics tools would be an asset
- Passion for producing results that have an impact
- Desire to advance in the organization
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related area
- Advanced degree or CPA/CPA candidate would be an asset
Experience:
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced business environment
- Manufacturing company experience would be an asset
