Gilead Community Services is seeking a caring and recovery oriented APRN/PA to join our multi-disciplinary behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment agency.

About the position:

The APRN/PA for Gilead’s Middlesex county and New Britain area programs works in our outpatient clinic sites to oversee and provide prescriber services for the populations we serve, including adults with significant behavioral health needs and co-occurring substance use issues as well as adults with primary substance use disorders requiring MAT.  The position works primarily in our Middletown location for 20 hours/week Mon 9a-4p, Thurs 9a-4p, Fri 9a-3p with the opportunity for additional hours in our New Britain location. Clinical knowledge regarding severe and prolonged mental health and substance use disorders as well as medical knowledge regarding health and well-being are required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a licensed APRN in CT
  • Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and psychiatric issues
  • Five years of clinical experience
  • Must maintain and provide proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing.
  • Reliable use of personal vehicle as needed

This is a non-union position and pay is dependent on level of education and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing prescriber services and medication management to adults with severe and prolonged mental health and substance abuse disorders, including those who require MAT
  • Conducting psychiatric evaluations and Mental Status Exams for all newly admitted clients as well as annual visits
  • Coordinating client care with the treatment team, including program RN’s, clinicians, and residential program staff
  • Maintaining contact with MDs (i.e., PCPs, specialists, etc.) to coordinate medical and psychiatric care of individuals
  • Working closely with pharmacies to facilitate proper pharmaceutical care
  • Providing ongoing medical education to case management and program staff, both informally and in trainings
  • Consulting with the Psychiatrist regarding medical and mental health needs as well as risk management concerns
  • Making appropriate community referrals based on assessments and evaluations to meet clients’ basic health needs
  • Completing all necessary documentation in a thorough and timely manner
